OBA: 2 Stages Assessment Process
The OBA consists of a two-stage assessment process. The Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) exam and an Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE). Internationally Qualified Nurses or Midwives, or IQNMs must pass the MCQ stage before moving on to the OSCE stage.
1st Stage Cognitive Assessment consists of a computer-based MCQ exam.
The cognitive Assessment component is a computer-based multiple-choice question or MCQ where registered nurses will sit the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX RN). Exams will be held at the Pearson VUE testing center to aim for MCQ. To advance to stage two of the OBA, IQNMs must pass the exam.
Registered nurses will sit the NCLEX RN while Midwives will sit MCQ exams managed by NMBA.
2nd Stage Behavioral assessment in an OSCE.
The Objective Structured Clinical Exam or OSCE was created to determine whether an IQNM demonstrates an Australian graduate-level nurse or midwife's knowledge, skills, and competence.
How long does the OBA process take?
The length of time it takes to finish the OBA is determined by how rapidly you can complete the evaluations.
NMBA strictly recommends that IQNMs must wait until they have applied for and been authorized for registration before making any irrevocable decisions, such as quitting their current job or moving to Australia.
