FCCPT (Foreign Credentialing Commission on Physical Therapy) evaluates the educational credentials of internationally trained physical therapists against U.S. PT education standards. Most U.S. state boards require a completed FCCPT evaluation before granting eligibility to sit the NPTE. Without FCCPT report, the state board will not issue an Authorization to Test (ATT).

Can I take the NPTE exam outside the United States?

How many times can I retake the NPTE?

FSBPT allows a maximum of 6 total lifetime NPTE attempts. After a failed attempt, a 45-day waiting period is required. After 3 failed attempts, a 6-month waiting period applies. Candidates who exhaust all 6 attempts may be permanently barred.The number of permitted attempts is ultimately subject to the rules of the board to which the applicant has applied for licensure.
